I travel not to carouse, drink, dress in fancy clothes, show off, be a snob, elitist or to be a social butterfly. I travel to experience different cultures and take lots of photographs. Not your post on Facebook amateur snapshots but actual art photographs I can enlarge and frame. I’m an amateur photographer with professional equipment. I’m guessing that going on cruises now is about seeing & being seen. I love traveling sans thousands of dollars worth of fancy clothing & thousand dollar fancy shoes. Not into the red carpet lifestyle on Oscar night. Not into asking or being asked who are you wearing to show off that I have money. I abhor designer names pasted all over my clothing like a NASCAR driver and their sponsorship clothing. Too snobbish & reminiscent of the old colonialist social events or debutant balls.

I have to say that having taken a "river cruise" that turned out to be the best, most memorable, 6 days of my life....but it wasn't on a "river boat" or "cruise line" -- it was on a dahabiya with ten cabins. I absolutely positively 100% recommend this journey to everyone.. It would take paragraphs to describe the differences and why, even if you've done another Nile cruise before. You will see things you've never seen, you will tie up along the Nile where other boats can't go, dive off the top into the Nile, see villages and tombs you'll never see.....and is one-quarter the price. And the silence.....lordie.......Oh, and you'll experience night-time memorable parties in true Egyptian fashion! It was a 60th birthday trip, and I encourage you to do it -- I don't want to advertise here (don't know if it's allowed!) but would be happy to give you the dahabiya voyage name. Oh, the Egyptologist guide who works with the ships is renouned -- superb english and so incredibly knowledgeable, to listen to him reading the hieroglyphics......it's *nothing* like the other ships -- it has the same all-inclusive, and people meeting you, etc. Anyway...I highly recommend it to everyone (they have four dahabiya). Small (there were couple and even a family with a child), intimate, chock-full of interesting things -- and you smile and wave at all those plethora of big ships sailing by, unable to stop on the little island with you! Alone on the Nile...........

Sir, though I appreciate your views and opinions: - For myself this “new” Cunard brick is all chintz and absolutely no substance. I simply detest it’s look and purpose. It is crass, also-ran and poor in taste. I would rather pass a kidney stone than EVER setting foot onto this disgusting exhibition for the designers and corporate-types’ of the accountants that these days run companies for profits. Bring back the most beautiful ocean liner of the past 70 years… …the QE2!!! Pardon me, Sir, as I need to goto vomit from this. Not your fault just this horrid eyesore. YUK Bring back British taste for Christs’ sake.

I’m sorry to say but this comes as a huge disappointment. Cunard seems to have completely lost its direction. People choose Cunard for the experience they offer, as one of the very vast companies that still captures the romantic idea of travel of days gone past. In my view this was a huge mistake. When QM2 retires it will truly be the end of an era.

I've just finished a P&O cruise but Azamara sounds more like my kind of thing. 700 pax instead of 3,500, more time at destinations - like a river cruise but at sea?

HAL was our first cruise line. We did 16 cruises with HAL and experienced continual decline in services and features. We were done with cruising because of this until we sailed with Celebrity when friends got married on the ship. We are now Elite level with Celebrity and are booked on two additional cruises with Celebrity.

I would not recommend this shop to anyone who knows the Mary, Elizabeth and Victoria. Standard of service is low, lack of staff discipline , food , randomly good. I feel sorry for the staff who have been moved to this ship from the Mary. They are demeaned in their professionalism. No wonder they are desperate to return. I do not think our American fellow travellers will be returning. Money, money, money, a commercial vessel and designers who do not know ships. The Queens room singer such a talent .Surely she will be spotted.

Had a lower level room on Viking. No problem for us. We were in our room to take care of essentials….the rest of the time we were upstairs enjoying the beautiful scenery, eating, entertainment, etc. Our cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam was memorable. We had no complaints on this wonderful vacation.

Frankly, I’m just not impressed by these newer huge ships as they are now. Paying a premium for this seems pointless. So, I agree with his conclusion…go on a smaller ship that caters to adults rather than these sea faring cattle cars.

The interior to me looks a bit like QE2 when she originally launched - very modern and a departure from her predecessors. The thing I don’t like is from the outside, the massive ‘forehead’

Excellent vlog, as always Gary. I can’t say I’m impressed with this new ship. Its lost the classical Cunard look and appears dull and unloved. I guess it’s designed for the traditional older cruise passenger, but both swimming pool areas looked bright and modern 😢👵🛳️☹️

Late term pregnancy will not be allowed (example: 26 weeks pregnancy) 5. Bringing drugs, alcohol, and weapons get you banned forever

We came so close to being denied boarding. We booked a 5 day cruise specifically because my husband though his passport was lost, and we wanted a birthday trip to Mexico. We have New York enhanced DL's and had used them for Canada in the past. I thought (incorrectly) you could use them for Mexico by sea. We mentioned this to the TA, specifically were booking this cruise because we could travel with the enhanced DL's. Of course when we went to board they said he needed his birth certificate. Thankfully we were allowed to use his passport *card*. (Of course when we got home he found his passport, I had been telling him it was in the house and he had hidden it.) We are pretty well informed, and we were WRONG, so I can see someone else making the same error.

Seniors ate being phased out by cruise liners. Young people can drink hard and the profit margins are huge on drink packages. Just water down the drinks and make more money. Plus, the amusement park rides for the kids brings in more money. The younger crowd might have higher disposable income to many, not all, many seniors being more asset rich and cash poor metaphor. So it makes marketing sense.

I'll mention one thing about restrooms in the Middle East. The native population do not relieve themselves like we do in the Western world. I toilet facility in many places is a hole in the ground and a water hose that hangs nearby to clean up after. Unheard in the West. So naturally, places like Port-o-John's are disgusting. No one sits down. They point and shoot and let the next guy worry about it. The next guy/gal does the same. It's a mess. Expect that and you will not be surprised. If you can't handle that issue, best not to travel in the area at all.

Hi Gary - I posted a comment about a month ago regarding my upcoming trip on the Vista. Sadly, the cruise has come and gone. I wanted to share my thoughts regarding the issue you raised regarding soundproofing or lack thereof. I'm a light sleeper, so I was concerned by your video. My stateroom (more on that later) was located on Deck 9. I had neighbors on both sides. At no point did I ever hear any noise coming from my neighbors. One afternoon, one neighbor turned on their TV. I could definitely hear it, but the sound was muffled. If I hadn't watched your video, I'm not sure I would have paid any attention to it. I could also hear a tiny bit of hallway noise, but no more than on any other cruise ship or hotel room. I packed a white noise machine, which proved unnecessary. The Vista is an absolutely beautiful ship and I found the stateroom to be perfectly quiet and comfortable. I look forward to sailing again as soon as my schedule allows! I shared my stateroom with my husband and young son, who was very comfortable on the sofa bed. Neither my husband nor my son noticed any noise issues. I think the term "stateroom" is somewhat misleading. It was much larger than some "suites" in which I've stayed. In my opinion, it's the square footage that matters, not whether it's called a "stateroom" or a "suite." This was our first cruise on Oceania partially due to your complimentary review of the line. It will definitely not be our last!! We loved it so much! No complaints whatsoever.

I once had a ring stolen from my finger whilst surrounded by people in Istanbul but it was made glass as I never wear anything that costs more than a few pounds and not bothered to lose stuff,and always wear a money belt with a bum bag with only a few bits of money.

I have a cruise planned in 2025 on the koningsdam. I'll see how it goes. Wish I could afford a smaller ship with high end food but all cruise ships are cutting corners wherever they can at our expense.

Well, as a cruiser, my primary interests are destinations, cost, language onboard, rooms, food and destinations. What is not in my top ten interests are 'wellness coaches', activities and bicycle availability, which seemed to be more the focus of this video. Take this for what it is worth.

Any HAL cruise with a greater number of single females ages 18-25 would be alright with me!
